The project is aimed at people with disabilities who have difficulty accessing employment, but who actually have employable skills, regardless of how they were acquired.

Despite many active employment policy measures and supportive strategies and programs, disability remains a key factor in unemployment, and in many cases leads to discouragement of the person in seeking employment, which in turn leads to deskilling, loss of financial independence, and increased dependence on caregivers and social services.

With the Skillability project we intend to address the low levels of employment of people with disabilities, encourage them in the use of their talents, promote entrepreneurship and creativity, suggest an alternative path to financial independence, improve social and digital skills, open up learning and qualification pathways.
The aim is to offer training opportunities to these people and at the same time to define a solid support infrastructure, necessary for the analysis of training needs and the design of individual learning paths and personal employment/entrepreneurship goals addressed to people with disabilities.

The project includes the creation of a marketplace platform, which functions as a formal workplace in all respects: working from home is one of the solutions that allows people with disabilities to be productive members of the labor force without having to deal with an often hostile physical environment.

Skillability’s main target audience is individuals with disabilities who have already developed artistic talents or skills that are expendable in the world of work, and who are willing to build on their existing skills, qualifications and talents, and make their skills available to clients and users, without the constraint of the physical obstacles of distance.
Indirect recipients of project actions are also family members and caregivers, as they are a vital part of the success of any integration measure.

We are aware that the people for whom we have designed the project are not an integral and monolithic group, but there are significant differences in the different participating countries regarding employment and social systems, and the level of integration of people with disabilities into the world of work. We will take these differences into account when designing the methodology, communication strategies, and level of difficulty of digital training courses; it is these differences that will provide us with important information and contribute to the exchange of know-how within the partnership.
